Concert Orchestra

Concert Orchestra is the flagship ensemble for the RCS Orchestra program. The ensemble continues to focus on fundamentals of string playing, as well as advanced string techniques and overall musicality. Students participate in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest at the local and state level, as well as ISSMA Organizational Festival in the Spring. This orchestra appears at the fall, winter, and spring concerts. This group is under the baton of Lauren Gruber

Symphonic Full Orchestra
The Concert Orchestra combines with auditioned wind, brass, and percussion players after marching band season to form the Richmond High School Symphony Orchestra. This provides students with the wonderful opportunity to perform standard symphonic literature, as well as some pops literature. The RHS Symphony Orchestra appears at the winter and spring concerts only. This orchestra is under the baton of Lauren Gruber.

Chamber Music
Students at Richmond High School participate in a yearly chamber music study each January. Musicians form small groups to study and perform standard chamber literature at a variety of levels. The winter Chamber Fest happens each February in conjunction with ISSMA Solo & Ensemble, giving students a chance to show off their work.

Honors Orchestra
The highest performing students audition to be in this group that meets once a week to study literature at the advanced high school and beginning college level.  This is an audition only ensemble and is kept to a small size to focus the experience of the group.
